A couple of images with different points of view to evaluate the quality result

Next the top panel and start painting the pieces .

    New updates

After a lot of fails , material and different process test`s , finally I get some good results.
Stop wood work and try something else

Real use of the wood pieces , vaccum forming

    100_2701.jpg

    cut of the single pieces

    100_2702.jpg

I choose to make the pieces one-by-one because all of the fail was trying to make entire panels , it can be done , but I don't like the quality of the results

    100_2703.jpg

Preview , I hope to get better quality in the final pieces

To make this pieces , I have to build my own home-made vacuum forming machine , that explain the lack of updates

More pieces made in MDF , this time in 5mm of thickness

    100_2573.jpg

    Pieces glued in place

    100_2575.jpg

I worked on them to make the edges rounded

    100_2576.jpg

    100_2577.jpg

All the pieces together , this is for the fans of the top of the case

    100_2578.jpg

    100_2579.jpg

    Same for the side panel

    100_2584.jpg

Complete side panel preview , with this new pieces , I can have 3 different highs , to make it look less flat than before

    Intro
In this project the main idea was to mod an Armor A30 into a toolbox , as the name says
Two features of a toolbox was chosen to be the most important of this work , the cover and and extractable plate that most of the toolbox have.
The design was made in a way that the cover can be open and the extractable plate can be moved to the outside position even with the PC turned on , there's no need to turn it off or unplug cables to operate it.

Toolbox is a project that I realize last year , to take part in a collection of extreme hardware that came with a computer magazine that is sell in several countries of Latin America
The number 29 of this collection is completely dedicated to the developing of this mod and available in 28/2/2012 , before this day , I can't post images or worklog , for obvious reasons

    Here is the cover

After the release I will post an exclusive image gallery ( a professional photographer take the pictures for the publication , but I don't like the pictures he made)

I know that some hardware is missing , but this is what they gave me to the foto session :(

Hi , I'm here with my new project Hi-Tek armoured case
Is a Thematic mod , inspired in games like Crysis 2 and MGS 4 , the main
idea is to develop a computer armoured with the technology of
    nannosuite 2 and Snake armoursuite

Let's start with the side panel design (basic)

    1002496small.jpg

I made this pieces in MDF (1/2 inch) to get the desire shape

    First the cuts

    1002473low.jpg

Every piece must be worked manually to get it into shape

    Example

    1002475low.jpg

    More pieces

Half-side panel done , three picture of different angles

    1002488h.jpg

Pieces of the two side panel (it will be symmetrical) confronted to compare

Too many people tell me that I must paint the dvd drive , I will think about it , but I like it white as the rest of the details of the mod.
Next step , reproduce it in fiber glass and white sleeving , the visible parts of the aluminium chassis , the dvd rack and the mothertray must be painted in white too.

I keep all the mod red without stripes and drawings because I running out of time in a tournament and I don't want the typical ' 2 white stripes dodge viper style' , I want something different.

The main concept of this project was made a scratch build mod with all the basics of modding (big side window , front and bottom blowhole , rear and top fan's extracting hot air) , but introducing a new concept of build and functionality (new at least for me)
This case is a concept prototype of hibrid chassis , made of aluminium and fiberglass (aluminium and MDF in this beta version) , where there is just one modular unit , the only removable piece is the acrylic side panel and 2 fan covers (no front cover , no top cover , no side panels)

The main challenge with this proyect was the planificacion to make this functionality work , for that I include extractable pieces (HDD rack , mothertray , front control panel) , and a routing system for the cable management to make it reach all the case

This is the 3d-render that I made as a model in the beginning

Here the final pictures of the job done , I hope you like it
